#### Experience

I have been tutoring students from elementary school to college for most of my life. I started tutoring when I was in 7th for a science class and continued through college, specializing in mathematics.I spent one summer my senior year of college privately teaching 6th grade math for a male student, as well as taught 7th grade math and high school algebra 2 and pre-calc for the same family, each session lasted two hours long and included not only instruction, but exams and homework as well (by request of the parents).

I spent a semester teaching high school algebra to a female student twice a week for one hour time blocks. These sessions included hints on homework problems and instruction on different subjects.

I was employed through Iowa State University as a college algebra and pre-calculus tutor. Each session lasted for one hour and included homework hints and subject instruction and clarification. I taught both private sessions and group sessions. By my graduation I was a highly requested tutor, saught out by student both through the university services and on a private basis.

I love tutoring and helping students. I am currently wanting to go back to school to get a masters in education so I can teach math at the high school level.

My teaching style:

I taylor my sessions to the individual student. I know that everyone learns in different ways and at different rates. I take my first session to evaluate how the student will best respond to me and learn and then I adapt my teaching style to fit their needs. For example, I had a student through the university tutoring services who was only able to learn by relating math to real life situations. Therefore I spent my sessions with him giving examples of how the subject would be used in real life as well as relating it to possible life sitautions. Things like telling him that the asymptote of a specific equation would be like your credit card limit; how you are able to charge anything you want to your credit card until you reach your limit and then you are denied.

I find and believe that the best and only way to connect to the student I'm tutoring is to be sure that I pay attention to what the student needs and wants, without doing it all for them.

Time Availability:

I am available 7 days a week. Weekends tend to be easiest, but I am willing to tutor when ever the student is available. I try not to tutor too late in the day seeing as most attention spans weaken in the evenings. Just send me an email or give me a call (612-385-2822) and we can work out a schedule that works best for you. I am also willing to tutor online through internet chats/email if needed or even over the phone with no extra charge. I am also willing to travel to you.

#### Hobbies

Some of my personal interests include writing a fantasy novel, reading lots of books, studying mathematical theories, swimming, playing soccer and spending time with my kitty. I love kids and when I tutor it always brings a smile to my face to see the student finally understanding the material.### Inquire about this tutor
