Experience
As an undergraduate, I worked for America Reads/America Counts. As a graduate student my graduate assistant work was mostly focused on research but I also helped with class preparations and grading. Almost all of my classes required presentations, and teaching designed chapters and readings to my class and were opened for discussion. In the summer of 2010, I interned at Southern University (for Sankofa Academy)- as the COO/COI of the summer college prep program. I assisted with a lot of grading due to a small staff and substituted for the computer literacy course. The program was designed to help students in middle and high school students in the Baton Rouge, LA area. I have taken many math, english and french classes. I was hired as a tutor when I was an undergraduate to teach french at Iowa State. I also took and passed the Praxis Exam in 2007 when I thought I would be pursuing a teaching degree. Some recent writing/leadership involvements include: serving as a leader/mentor for many student organizations on campus and at my work (Wells Fargo - where I work in sales part-time); I wrote/composed almost the entire summer 2010 newsletter for the volunteer center of story county; and I am the current corresponding secretary for my sorority Delta Sigma Theta.

Hobbies
I enjoy traveling, going to carnivals, learning about new cultures/new adventures. I enjoy shopping, babysitting my cousins and friends children, volunteering, laughing, being outdoors, playing games etc. I am overall a very fun, energetic, and people person. I enjoy working with children and being a mentor. I strongly believe that education is the key to overcoming just about anything that life throws at you. Being in school and being educated doesn't just teach you about your basic course work but it also teaches you life skills. It gives you a sense of confidence that is unique to each person who possess it, and it is the single most powerful thing that anyone can own. I believe that I have the ability to influence young people to be excited about school, education, and being an active member of their community. I have always had a passion for these things and I have worked my entire life trying to incorporate them in it as much as possible.
