Experience
I've had the pleasure of helping students learn through several programs and experiences. One of these experiences has been working as a tutor for Iowa State University, which I've done since September of 2010. There have been about 15 university students that I have tutored in General Chemistry and Introduction to Philosophy, and I've received nothing but positive reviews. I was also hired as a tutor for World Religions and Accelerated Spanish Review, but I haven't tutored in these subjects due to a lack of student demand. For a year of high school I was a part of the Peer Helping Program, through which I worked daily with students in the resource room who needed additional assistance with their studying and schoolwork. I tutored these high school students in a variety of subjects, including math, psychology, English, writing, Spanish, and science. I would help them understand the homework, study for tests, and improve their study skills. For a semester of high school I did an additional daily Peer Helping session, which I spent helping two third graders who needed a little additional help to better grasp concepts involving spelling, math, writing, and reading. I've always been a dedicated students. I earned an ACT score of a 29, and graduated high school with a GPA of 3.8. It is my goal to help other students enjoy learning as I always have. College courses I've completed that are relevant to the subjects I'm qualified to tutor include Chemistry: Introduction to Chemistry, General Chemistry I and Lab, General Chemistry II and Lab, Organic Chemistry I and Lab Philosophy: Introduction to Philosophy, Philosophy of World Relgions Spanish: Intermediate Spanish II, Spanish Grammar and Composition, Spanish Grammar and Conversation. I also completed all four years of high school Spanish, and I just completed a four week summer study abroad program in Spain. Biology: General Biology I and Lab, General Biology II and Lab, Principles of Genetics and Lab Writing: Critical Thinking and Communication, Written, Oral, Visual, and Electronic Composition, Creative Writing
