Guten Tag leibe Leserin, lieber Leser, Mein Name ist Michael und Deutschlernen macht mir Spaß! I am a self-taught German speaker who can perform at an Effective Operational Proficiency (C1-Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). My journey with Deutsch was fostered about 9 years ago when I was a freshman in high school. There I took part in my school's exchange program with Walldorf, Germany by hosting several students, as well as living with a host family myself. In college, I pursued a dual degree at the country's premier institution for International Engineering Education, the University of Rhode Island (URI). URI offers an unparalleled experience for students who are looking to become truly global engineers. Upon graduation, I not only left Rhode Island with a formal education in German but also with extensive experience studying and working abroad in Germany for a period of about 15 months. Recently, I moved to Ames to pursue a career in the biofuels industry. As a young professional, I am working for a subsidiary of a German-based bioenergy company who recently purchased what Dupont formally claimed to be the world's largest cellulosic ethanol facility. In this role, I not only support the company as a Commissioning Lead but also as a Cultural Ambassador to Senior Management. As a tutor, I offer extensive training in technical and conversational German. My specialties include language assessment preparation, professional and academic interviews, resume building, making it abroad, as well as German history, media, and literature review. I am new to the Mid-West and aspire to pursue my America Translators Association (ATA) Certification.
